<p>Do you find yourself in situations where afterwards you say to yourself &#8220;I should have spoken up&#8221;?  Do you pay a lot of attention to what others say or wonder what would so and so say?  If this is the case, you may be a victim of &#8220;Silent Voice Syndrome&#8221;. You are not alone since this syndrome is quite rampant.  Fortunately there are remedies that will cure this syndrome. </p>
<p>Principles for strengthening your voice:<br />
1. Silent Voice Syndrome is a learned response usually traceable to growing up or life experiences.<br />
2. Since it is a learned response it can be unlearned.<br />
3. Therefore, Silent Voice Syndrome is a habit that made sense at one time but has outlived its usefulness.<br />
4. As an adult you can choose how you respond.</p>
<p>What to do to strengthen your voice:<br />
1. Pay attention to what you feel and think.<br />
2. To change the habit of silencing your voice you will have to become aware of when you resort to it.<br />
3. Remember it takes time to consistently notice when the habit of silencing yourself kicks in.<br />
4. Practice speaking up and be gentle with yourself when you don&#8217;t. </p>
<p>The advantage of overcoming &#8220;Silent Voice Syndrome&#8221; is that you will have more confidence and be able to speak up when you decide to do so. By strengthening your voice you are growing your emotional fitness.</p>
