Do you also think that we can strengthen our emotional fitness throughout our life? I see it as being a necessity if we want to feel vibrantly alive. I define emotional fitness as strengthening WHO you are as a person.
As we go through life we need to be resilient and adapt to personal changes and circumstances. No doubt we all know people who have stopped growing and who are not happy. They have let go of dreams, hopes, joys and desires. They have resigned themselves to a half lived life. Studies show that the majority of people limit themselves by not appreciating fully their capabilities and their emotional possibilities.
I believe we go through different stages in life. We make some decisions and set up our life so it works just fine for a while. I know that it has been that way for me. I have gone through phases where I was content and then had that inner nagging that it was time to move on and grow some more. I used to say to myself “why can’t I be content?” Yet each time I followed my inner desire. I have later realized that I had to move forward. If I had not taken myself seriously, no doubt, in time I would have become depressed. When we don’t listen to ourselves, we end up squelching a vital part of ourselves. That vital part is what keeps us excited and involved with life. Tomorrow I will write about what makes people happy.
