What I have realized throughout the years is that our personal foundation has to keep changing. That is because as we get older and mature we realize we have strengths and possibilities that at a younger age we did not know we had or needed. We become aware that we only know what we are capable of becoming when we expect ourselves to keep growing.
I have found in my life that whenever I have entered a new phase that for quite I would be content. For instance it was that way when I had my first professional jobs, when I had children, and when I started my business. I would enjoy what I was doing and then this good feeling would gradually be followed by this inner desire for something additional or different. I don’t think I am unique in this. I think this happens to all of us if we have a growth mindset and want to continue leading a vibrant life.
I have known people who when they get their AARP card begin to see themselves as old and begin to limit themselves. Likewise there are many others who see age 50 as a time for discovering new interests and endeavors. These are the people who are then willing to put effort into strengthening their personal foundation and take their life in new directions. Whenever we begin something new we have to push through the behaviors and limiting beliefs that may hold us back. It is by taking pleasure in growing who we are that we deepen our personal foundation.
