Grow by Living Fully in the Present

What does it mean to live fully in the present? It means accepting that things are the way they are and that the present is the only place we can be. It is in the present that we can grow.

By accepting and loving the present we will create our future. When you are fully in the present you will see more and experience more. I find that when I am fully present as I look out my window I see so much more. My mind is focused on appreciating what is around me and not preoccupied with something entirely different. I am mindful. It is the same when I am talking to someone. When I am truly present the interaction is much more meaningful. It is easy to be here while really not being here. When we live in the present we can start doing things differently that will take us toward what we envision for ourselves. To keep growing we have to accept ourselves in a loving way in the present which then allows us to enjoy the unchartered journey into the future.

Having my mind stay focused in the present has been hard for me. I find my mind jumping easily from one thing to another. I found that the regular discipline of doing Yoga and Pilates has helped me get better at being mindful. Whenever my mind would wander, I learned to pull myself back to focusing exclusively on the task I was doing. Gradually my ability to stay in the present is improving also in other areas. I would be interested in hearing what your experiences have been in staying in the present.
