Am I continuing to grow as a person? That is the question we all need to ask ourselves periodically. It is very easy to get caught up in the routines and demands of daily living. Are you living the way you want to be living? Or have you settled for a life that does not fully reflect who you are. I am now talking about going inside yourself to that quiet place that is yours alone. Here you can ask yourself what is working well for you and get in touch with what do you still want to add.
Several years ago I did exactly that. My life was basically very good — nice home, good children, loving husband, but on some level I wasn’t happy. I had never felt at home in the community where we were living. It wasn’t me — it was convenient to our jobs and had good schools. My long term desire became to move into a community that reflected me. In order to make it happen it took a lot of little steps and several years to get to where I am now very happily living.
Some of the little steps were to work consistently on getting the old house ready to go on the market, weathering a slowdown in the market, and getting my husband on board. Because my dream to live on the water and in a community where I could walk places was so strong, I focused much of my energy towards achieving it. For years I had wanted to move, but this time I didn’t let go of what mattered to me and we made it happen.
I would love to hear from you of your experiences of making something that truly mattered to you happen.
